Transmission Seal and Boot Kits
Just about every Miata with over 50K miles has
one or more of the transmission seals leaking. If you are doing
a clutch installation you should consider replacing the transmission
seals and the engine rear main seal while you have the transmission
removed, consider it cheap insurance against future leaks.
If you have over 30K miles you need to inspect
your shifter boots for tears. The smaller boot mounts to the transmission
to seal the oil around the shifter. The larger boot keeps sound
and dirt from entering through the transmission tunnel. You can
do a simple visual by removing the console and inspect for wear
and tear.
